Announcing the American Association of Physical Anthropologists Committee on Diversity Women’s Initiative Early-Career Women’s Professional Development Workshops Wednesday, March 25, 2015 – Saint Louis, MO

Morning session: 8:00am -12:00pm OR Afternoon session: 1:00pm - 5:00pm Luncheon open to all participants: 12:00pm - 1:00pm

This half-day workshop will focus on the challenges and opportunities faced by early career women physical anthropologists and offer practical tools and resources to help women scholars in the early stages of their careers strategically navigate their paths forward. As part of this workshop, participants will hear from colleagues who will present their personal stories, describe their career paths, and address issues of work-life balance from their perspectives. Panelists have been selected for their specialized knowledge in particular areas and demonstrated success in navigating their careers. They will provide inspiring stories and valuable advice to support career advancement. Participation will involve interactive activities and require some advance preparation. Participants are expected to attend the entire half-day session for which they register; the content of both sessions is the same, but panelists will be divided between sessions.

Registration deadline is January 15, 2015. Enrollment is free and limited to 25 participants in each session, at the rank of Postdoctoral Scientist, Assistant Professor, or equivalent. Please be sure to note your availability for the morning or afternoon session, or both; spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
