The American Association of Physical Anthropologists ("AAPA") is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. We've structured our Web sites so that, in general, you can visit us on the Web without identifying yourself or revealing any personal information.
AAPA only collects personally identifiable data such as your name, address, telephone number, or e-mail address when you voluntarily submit it to AAPA. This information may be used by personnel of AAPA as a means to contact you to obtain more information, to improve this site, or it might be used to provide you with information that you have requested or additional information that AAPA believes may be of interest to you. The data will not be transferred to a third party outside of AAPA without your prior consent but may be used within AAPA or by a company acting as an agent of AAPA for processing and mailing purposes. AAPA will not sell, rent, or lease your personally identifiable information to others.
As part of the order process, if we collect credit/debit card information, your information will be used to fill your order but we will never share your personal payment information with third parties.
While AAPA makes every reasonable effort to protect the information collected through its Web sites, please be aware that there is always some risk involved when submitting data over the Internet. We cannot guarantee that our Web site is 100-percent safe from illegal tampering or "hacking." Any data transmitted over the Internet may be at risk; however, once it is received at AAPA and entered into its database, it has the same protection that AAPA extends to its own confidential information.
We track the total number of visitors to our Web site, the number of visitors to each page of the Web site, and the domain names of our visitors' Internet service providers. No personally identifiable information is gathered in this process.
If at any time you wish to stop receiving e-mails or other communications from us, or if you have submitted personally identifiable information through our Web site and would like to have that information deleted from our records, please notify us using the contact information on our website. You may also request access to personal data about you that AAPA holds and you may have the opportunity to request a correction or amendment to your personal data.
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. AAPA contracts with Burk, Inc., to manage membership. Burk, Inc. uses Authorize.net to process credit card payments. Transfer of credit card information from users of the AAPA membership and meeting registration website to Authorize.net is protected by encryption and an SSL certificate issued to Authorize.net. Authorize.net stores this credit card information on its secure servers. The AAPA and Burk, Inc. do not retain or store credit card numbers on the servers they manage.
Refunds are not issued for purchase of AAPA memberships. Membership is canceled when the membership term expires or if an individual or institution requests that the membership be terminated.
We do not collect personal information from any person we actually know is under the age of 18.
