The Department of Geosciences of the Faculty of Science at Tübingen University invites applications for the position of Full professor (W2) of Human Evolution available immediately.

This position will be made available for a period of five years according to section 50 subsection 2 sentence 1 no. 5 of the Baden-Württemberg state law covering higher education and specifically the promotion of highly gifted junior researchers. The preferred candidate should have carried out long-term research in human Plio-Pleistocene evolution. Well documented expertise in the analysis of the human and primate fossil record and quantitative analyt­ical skills (including, but not limited to virtual anthropology, histological or modelling approaches) are ex­pected. Long-term participation and / or leadership in fieldwork is desired. Potential research directions to be considered include ontogenetic and life history perspectives on human evolution; locomotor adapta­tions; and / or environmental influences on human evolution. The position will be responsible for the Pale­oanthropology curriculum in Human Evolution at the bachelor and master levels, including teaching of lecture and laboratory courses (e.g. Introduction to the Human Fossil Record, Evolution of Human Biology and Behavior, Research Design, Evolutionary Theory). The position has a teaching load of nine hours per week during the semester. The successful candidate will be expected to complement existing strengths in the Paleoanthropology working group and to develop new collaborative research avenues. Required qualifications include postdoctoral qualifications equivalent to the requirements for tenure, an excellent research record including evidence of teaching effectiveness. Experience in the acquisition of third-party funded projects is also required.
