The Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor to serve 100% time in the 2022-23 academic year. Instruction begins Thursday, September 22 with the pay period and hire date beginning on October 1, 2022. Duties will include in-person, on-campus instruction of 2 courses in each of 3 quarters (six courses total). Courses that applicant would need to be able to teach include a human osteology laboratory course and a graduate seminar of their design. Other classes that could be taught include: introduction to biological anthropology and other upper division undergraduate lecture courses such as, paleoanthropology, bioarchaeology, and/or forensic anthropology. Duties will also include mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and participation in department activities. In addition, the successful candidate will give at least one campus presentation of their work during their appointment and will continue with their research agenda. A Ph.D. in anthropology or a related discipline is required at the time of the appointment. Priority will be given to candidates with experience and success in teaching anthropology, including human osteology, at the university level. Salary will be $70,100 for the year.
