The University of Washington (Seattle, WA) invites applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Scholar position, with possibility of renewal for a second year. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Dr. Melanie Martin, Assistant Professor of Anthropology. Ideal applicants will have interests in biological anthropology, biodemography, and/or maternal and child health. While this is a research, not a teaching position, there may be teaching opportunities available if desired by the fellow. The fellow will work on projects from the Chaco Area Reproductive Ecology Program (https://www.carepercha.com/) and the Seattle Mother-Infant COVID-19 Study (http://seattle-mom-covid19.uw.edu/), investigating child growth and development and maternal and child health. Job duties will minimally include statistical analysis and project management related to previous and ongoing collection of longitudinal growth, health, behavioral, and biospecimen data. Depending on the skills and professional interests of the candidate, job duties may also entail field data collection and/or laboratory assays at the UW Biodemography Lab. Applicants fluent in Spanish may have the opportunity to conduct fieldwork in Argentina and/or assist with management of Spanish language databases.

The position is 100% FTE for 12 months and offers a competitive salary of at least $50,004 depending on experience and qualifications. Responsibilities: 1. The candidate, will work in collaboration with Dr. Martin, on research projects related to child health, growth and development, and/or maternal-infant COVID-19 infection and immunity. 2. The candidate will assist in mentoring of graduate and undergraduate research students. 3. Collaborative research, discussion, and presentation of research results is expected.

Note: The University of Washington restricts Postdoctoral Scholar appointments to a total of five years, including postdoctoral experience(s) at other institutions.

Qualifications: By the start date, all elements of the PhD should be completed and the degree conferred in biological anthropology or related field (e.g. public health, sociology). Additional required qualifications: (1) Research interests that are appropriate to the Chaco Area Reproductive Ecology Program and/or the Seattle Mother-Infant COVID-19 Study; (2) Strong organizational, data analysis, and data management skills; (3) Demonstrated ability to publish in English-language peer-reviewed journals.
