The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work (SASW) at Texas Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in forensic anthropology to begin September 1, 2020. Preference will be given to candidates whose research area complements the existing strengths of the department in the Indigenous Americas. Research focus is open, but preference will be given to candidates that have a successful research agenda specific to forensic anthropology as it applies to issues of human rights, genocide, and/or the excavation and interpretation of mass graves. The successful candidate will have experience in GIS, quantitative analysis, anthropological DNA, or other methodological specialty and will contribute to the curriculum by teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in anthropology including Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Archaeology, Human Diversity, and Human Skeletal Biology and Forensic Techniques. In addition, the new colleague will be expected to develop courses related to his or her specializations, to mentor graduate students, and to involve graduate students in research. The teaching load is two courses per semester and includes teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Service duties include program building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, university, and community is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to seek outside research funding.

Required Qualifications PhD in hand by the starting date of the appointment is required. Demonstrated evidence of research, including a publication record and an active research agenda, is required.

Preferred Qualifications Candidates with teaching experience and demonstrated teaching effectiveness are preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of scholarly publication and external funding.
