UC Santa Barbara Visiting Assistant Professor
Depending on qualifications, the appointment will be made at the Visiting Assistant Professor level or temporary lecturer and Research, Project Scientist, or Specialist series.
Teaching will include courses in biological anthropology, forensics and/or bioarchaeology. Examples include but are not limited to Osteology (Anth 180A&B), Human Evolution (Anth 121), Human Variation (Anth 105), and Bioarchaeology (Anth 112). Duties may include collaboration on a variety of projects related to bioarchaeology, paleopathology, forensic anthropology, biological anthropology, and human evolution. The successful candidate will demonstrate quantitative skills, including multivariate statistics, database management, and programming. Familiarity with NAGPRA is desirable.
Ph.D. in anthropology or related field at the time of appointment is required and applicants must have demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and research. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching and research. The position will remain open until filled, but applicants are advised that review of applications will begin December 5th.
Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and any appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Salary based upon qualifications.
