Lecturer, Biological Anthropology Department: Anthropology Status: Academic year lecturer, two-year Description: The Department of Anthropology at Santa Clara University, a Catholic Jesuit institution, is interested in hiring a biocultural anthropologist with research related to public health. We are receiving applications to teach six courses in biological anthropology during the three quarters of academic year for two years: two sections of Introduction to Biological Anthropology with lab (the two lab sections count as one course), Paleoanthropology, Human Development and Sexuality, Health, Disease and Culture, and Human Nutrition and Culture.
SCU has recently adopted a new general education core. All courses are taught according to pre-approved syllabi. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Anthropology. Rank and Salary: Academic year lecturer; $46,900 - $49,700, depending on experience; benefits eligible. Starting Date: September 15, 2010, pending budgetary approval. Application Deadline: April 15, 2010 Responsibilities: 1. Teaching 2 sections of Introduction to Biological Anthropology with lab, Paleoanthropology, Human Development and Sexuality, Health, Disease and Culture, and Human Nutrition and Culture 2. Fulfilling all responsibilities associated with the assigned courses, including: a. conducting all assigned class and lab meetings and individual conferences with students b. assigning and evaluating student work including exams and written assignments c. holding weekly office hours on campus d. submitting student grades to the Registrar by the designated deadline 3.
