The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Anthropology to begin August 15, 2014. A Ph.D. in Anthropology must be awarded by August 15, 2014. Candidates must demonstrate teaching effectiveness and capacity to produce scholarly research. World cultural area specialization is open, but preference will be given for research and teaching interests in North American indigenous cultures, East Asia, South Asia, or Africa. Candidates must have teaching interests and abilities in at least two out of three fields in Anthropology: Cultural Anthropology is required in combination with Archaeology and/or Physical Anthropology. In the application letter candidates should discuss their research agenda as well as philosophy, interests and experience relevant to teaching Anthropology courses.

The department is dynamic and collegial, with full-time faculty including eleven sociologists, three anthropologists, four social workers, and three in criminal justice. The undergraduate Anthropology Program currently enrolls 60 majors and 25 double majors with Sociology. All Anthropology faculty teach at least one introductory course per semester, in addition to courses in their areas of specialization. The standard teaching load is five (5) courses per academic year.
