The Department of Biology at James Madison University invites applications at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor level for two Renewable Term faculty positions beginning fall 2014. Hiring will be for 9-month (fall-spring) appointments. Our student-focused department seeks two candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. The successful candidates will also demonstrate facility with instructional technology and an interest in collaborative teaching and course-design. A Ph.D. in biology, or appropriate doctoral degree related to biology and graduate level training in human anatomy are required. Teaching responsibilities will focus on undergraduate human anatomy and human physiology and may include graduate human anatomy. Scholarly activity in anatomy or teaching and learning is expected. Additional responsibilities will include academic advising, student mentoring and departmental, college and university service.

The Biology Department at James Madison University currently serves over 900 undergraduate majors and 18 master's students. The Department offers a wide variety of courses for biology majors, general education and pre-health profession majors, including a 4-semester lab-intensive core curriculum.
