VOLUNTEER
Student volunteers are needed to work at the AAPA meetings! In return for working half of a day at the conference, the Local Arrangements Chair will waive or refund a student’s registration fee. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Vito Sparacello (e-mail: vito@unm.edu ) let him know what day and time you would prefer.
Bus directions:
i. From Hotel Albuquerque to Downtown area. Head south on Rio Grande Blvd NW towards Mountain Rd NW. Bus stop is approximately 0.4 miles away at the intersection of Rio Grande Blvd and Central Ave. From here, take bus Route 36, which will head east towards the mountains to get to the downtown area. The bus stops on 1st Street and Gold Street (which is one street south of Central Avenue) to access the main strip. To return to Hotel Albuquerque from downtown, get on bus at Copper Street (which is one street north of Central Ave) and 2nd St. Take bus north on 2nd St, west on Lomas Blvd, then exit at Rio Grande Blvd.
ii. From Hotel Albuquerque to Nob Hill entertainment district. Head south on Rio Grande Blvd NW towards Mountain Rd NW. Bus stop is approximately 0.4 miles away at the intersection of Rio Grande Blvd and Central Ave. From here, take bus Route 36, which will head east towards the mountains to get to the downtown area. To get to Nob Hill from downtown (central and 1st street): take bus Route 66 from the Alvarado Transportation Center, which will head east on Central, you will pass Interstate 25 on your way up the hill. The next major crossroad will be University Blvd, and you will see the University of New Mexico campus on your left hand side. Continue east on this route, you will see some large neon signs overhead, which means you are entering the Nob Hill district.
iii. From Albuquerque International Airport to Downtown area (nonstop express). Take bus Route 350 heading west (away from the mountains) until you reach Interstate 25. Bus will head north along I-25 until you reach Lead Ave. Bus will turn west (left) on Lead and be going downhill towards downtown. Bus will turn north on 2nd street and stop at the Alvarado Transportation Center. From here, you can take bus Route 36 (west) to Hotel ABQ. Take the bus north on 2nd street, west on Lomas Blvd, and finally north to Rio Grande. Exit on Central and Rio Grande, Hotel ABQ is only 0.4 miles northeast from here.
iv. From Clubhouse Inn and Suites to Hotel Albuquerque. Take bus Route 8 heading west, there is a stop on Menaul right in front of the Clubhouse Inn and Suites. This bus only travels to 12th street and Menaul. From here you can take Route 36 heading south. Exit the bus at the intersection of Central and Rio Grande, and Hotel ABQ is only 0.4 miles northeast from here.
